He served as personal surgeon to the President of India starting in 1991.Education & American Board CertificationDr. Trehan graduated with his MBBS from King George's Medical University, Lucknow. Moving to the United States in 1969, he trained and practiced at New York University Medical Center, Manhattan, from 1971 to 1988, earning Diplomate certification from the American Board of Surgery and American Board of Thoracic Surgery.Institutional Leadership & AwardsUpon returning to India, Dr. Trehan founded the Escorts Heart Institute in 1988 before establishing Medanta in 2009. He is a past President of the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery (ISMICS), USA.
